María and Rob came from opposite corners of the world, Colombia and Ireland, but their love found the perfect setting in the heart of Oaxaca, Mexico.

They chose this city because it reminded María of Barichara, a charming colonial town in Colombia. The sensation of walking its cobblestone streets, the earthy smells in the air, the sound of life happening all around, they found the same feeling in Oaxaca, but that wasn’t the only reason. Oaxaca City carries a unique atmosphere, a deep sense of culture and mysticism, with its colorful streets, incredible food, and worldwide known Mezcal.

They stayed at Hotel El Callejón, just a short walk from downtown Oaxaca. A place that truly lets you experience the rhythm of the city. That afternoon, Robert actually walked with his friends to the church, setting the tone for a day filled with meaning and authenticity.

The hotel itself is a hidden gem. With its minimalist design rooted in Oaxacan tradition, it offered not only house-grown ingredients for its food and drinks, but is also incredible rich in texture, perfect for detail shots and for capturing the couple’s first moments together.
